The Colonial Inn

Nestled along a quiet side road between two towns, a weathered building stands in a field, easily overlooked as a shed or makeshift home at first glance. Upon closer consideration and a thorough examination of the road, the decision was made to approach the local landowner for permission to detect around this seemingly unassuming structure.

To my surprise, the landowner revealed that the building once served as an inn. Intrigued, I conducted a preliminary sweep for about 45 minutes, unearthing two early coins and a barrel tap in a short span. The thrill of discovering a bucket list item, the barrel tap, was undeniable. Additional noteworthy finds included harmonica reeds and horse tack buckles, prompting me to return to the landowner with my discoveries. Acknowledging the intriguing finds, they readily granted permission for future visits. Stay tuned.
